That was really nice, Shulamit. I’ve been doing the fingerstyle journeys and am concentrating on getting them down. I’d like to do the flamenco down the road. I looked up the Phrygian scale and am going to give it a try. Thanks. This is a good site for scales for anyone interested.

Thanks for the direction, Tomas. You have such a wealth of instruction here that sometimes I get lost.

I did get the name of Dan’s book wrong, tho. It’s Fingerstyle 101.

Tomas, I think the Fingerstyle Adventures are missing from the selection. I got there via resume last lesson. Maybe I just missed it somehow.

Hi Neri, good luck to you. There’s lots of instruction to choose from here. The monthly Q and A with Tomas is really great.

    Have Fun,

Hi Doug, I started a year and a half ago and I’m 66. Never too late. I try not to get hung up on anything. Just tell myself if I never get out of my living room playing, I’m having a good time there.

If I’d started in my teens I probably wouldn’t have been so patient and would’ve been too goal-oriented.

    Have fun,

    Hi Bob,

I have a few guitars too. They’re gradually starting to play better music. I’ve been taking private lessons a half hour a week since the beginning of last year. Been here for about 3 weeks I believe. It’s a really nice supplement to the private lessons. You can’t rewind an instructor over and over like the videos here.

    Good luck and have fun,

    KevinR

Thanks for those recommendations, Tomas. I haven’t read either of them. I love the expression “The obstacle is the way,” tho. Playing guitar seems like a good part of a well-rounded philosophy.

My phone is my biggest distraction, but I use it for my lessons. Really a dilemma. I do put it in another room when I’m not specifically using it, tho.

Hi Terry. Just wanted to give you warm wishes for your success from another sixty something baby guitarist.

Something I got interested in awhile back is a thing called Cognitive Behavior Therapy. It may sound weird but I’ve pretty much weaned myself away from saying “I’m trying to learn to play guitar” and replaced it with “I am learning to play.” I was making the joke that I’d learn to play if I lived long enough and I’ve stopped making any self deprecating statements as well.

Hope you’re enjoying Tomas’ course as much as I am. Hope he doesn’t mind if I mention one of your countrymen on YouTube, Ivor Sorefingers, whose videos are just incredible tutorials.
