Boy, I sure have a hard time with my middle finger relaxing instead of making it look like I’m giving everyone the bird!
Hi Thomas, instead of using the ring finger to press down both the 4th and 5th strings, could I use my pinky to press down both strings instead?

Hi Michael, Yes, it’s less common, but the pinky works for quite a few people.

what if my ring finger can press two strings, but it won’t collapse like you do. zmy fingers are not seasoned and tight knuckles. Is it ok?
Hi Michael, it’s okay. I recommend keeping working at it. Consider it a process that could take months.
