Going Slow
This week we’re focusing on a modern Latin tune that ruled the YouTube charts a few years ago—and we’re gonna squeeze every drop of guitar goodness out of it.
Today, you’ll learn the “rake” technique—kind of like a slow-motion strum that gives your chords a rich, expressive sound. We’ll start with a B minor shape and build a simple but powerful melodic move that we’ll use again later in the week.
It’s not about getting it perfect right away. Just take it slow, enjoy the process, and feel the groove start to settle in. This session is a great way to wake up your fingers and get into a flow state.

Hi Tomas, I’m playing a Gibson Southern Jumbo which I traded for the Taylor 414. I like the SJ much better and I’ve had it since January of this year.
Hi Tomas. I’m playing a Yamaha FG830 and for other lessons a Cordoba Iberia Series C7-CE nylon strings.
I’m playing a Yamaha FGC-TA. I never use trans acoustics or plug in. It seems like that just gets in the way of sitting down and practicing.
Hi Tomas- I’m playing a Martin Dreadnought Junior with an acoustic pickup (but I hardly ever use it with an amp).
I’m playing a Headway HD 45R acustic guitar
I play a 1988 Gremlin G-20. It was supposed to be a beginner guitar, but it’s still hanging in.
Hi Tomás. I play a nylon-string Spanish guitar, Admira, Sonia model, from the 1980s. I inherited it from my uncle, who introduced me to the guitar world.
