4.1 New Shape: A Minor

By now you might be noticing a trend. Barre chords are essentially open chords, with your index finger acting as a capo. That continues with the ‘A minor’ shape. The shape is very similar to the E Major shape, but the chords start on the fifth string.

You can use this shape anywhere on the neck as long as the root is on the fifth string. The name of the chord will be whatever note you start on. If you started this on the fifth fret it would be a D minor. Start on the third fret and it’s a C minor.
