Wonder Strumming
Today we’re building on yesterday’s rhythm foundation with three versatile strum patterns—each one a little more challenging than the last.
We’ll start simple, then gradually step into more intricate territory. The first pattern locks into a solid groove using even down and up strums. Then we’ll spice things up with a second pattern that introduces syncopation and variation. Finally, for those who want to go all in, we’ll learn the full Wonderwall strum pattern just like Noel Gallagher plays it—yep, it’s a two-measure groove with skips and accents that give the song its signature feel.
You don’t have to tackle all three. Stick with the first one if that’s where you’re comfortable, or move on if you’re ready for more. Either way, you’ll strengthen your strumming hand and start sounding more like you’re playing actual music—not just exercises.

What helps me especially is that you capture the attention of the student by saying “forget everything and think only on these 4 beats”.
I printed out version 3 and it helped to follow along. Now to get up to speed!
