just wondering are you puttiing pressure on your index finger with your middle finger . im wondering because at some point i will need middle finger to play chords.should i just try to use only index finger .hope fully one day i will get this barre chord concept.
thanks
paul
It’s okay to put light pressure using the middle finger. When you form a full barre chord you won’t need as much strength to hold down the index finger. The other fingers take up some of the work.
I’m glad to hear that Patricia. If you haven’t tried the Barre Chords for Everyone course I would encourage you to try it. I know you’ve mentioned that you have some issues with your fingers, but it’s broken down into very small steps. Just a suggestion.
Hi there Tomas,
I am 65 yrs “young”, and have arthritic, swollen 1 & 2 finger knuckles. Bar chords really cause pain in 1st finger. Thanks for this tip. I will make time each day to practise this warmup. Your recent RGS LIVE session on warm-ups helps also.
Much appreciated ,
Cheers,
Ian

THIS is very helpful!! I have avoided bar chords altogether…..but I have something to work with here! Thank you, Tomas!
