It’s okay to put light pressure using the middle finger. When you form a full barre chord you won’t need as much strength to hold down the index finger. The other fingers take up some of the work.

THIS is very helpful!! I have avoided bar chords altogether…..but I have something to work with here! Thank you, Tomas!

I’m glad to hear that Patricia. If you haven’t tried the Barre Chords for Everyone course I would encourage you to try it. I know you’ve mentioned that you have some issues with your fingers, but it’s broken down into very small steps. Just a suggestion.

Hi there Tomas,
I am 65 yrs “young”, and have arthritic, swollen 1 & 2 finger knuckles. Bar chords really cause pain in 1st finger. Thanks for this tip. I will make time each day to practise this warmup. Your recent RGS LIVE session on warm-ups helps also.
Much appreciated ,
Cheers,
Ian
