Hi Tomas
Jaume, on March 31, was telling you/us that he had a problem with the By Copy Play nr 20 from March 2023, hearing other chords than what you showed in the video.
I had exactly the same problem than and also now again. I just feel lost playing something that doesn’t seem right.
This exercise functions very well with single notes/strings. But with chords it cannot figure it out.

I totally agree with you, Sissel. I think that this lesson is the same By Copy Play nr 20 from last month, and it still has that problem.

Hi Sissel and Jaume,
I’ve checked the video and it is correct.

Hearing chords is more difficult than singe notes. It helps to start off by warming up with the three chords. In this case it’s the G – C – D chords. Play the chords without the video and change the order.

These are the main chords in the key of G, also known as the 1 – 4 – 5 chords. It’s very valuable to get accustomed to the sound of the three main chords in all the guitar keys. In particular the sound of the movement between them.

Play the 1 – 4 -5 in G (G – C – D)
Play 1 – 5 – 4 (G – D – C)
Play 4 – 5 – 1 (C – D – G)

and so on. Go back to the G chord often to keep the sound of the key in your ear. If you start to lose the key in your mind (ear) play 1 – 4 – 5 – 1 (G – C – D – G). That will establish the key again.

Tip: Don’t worry about the form of the chord that you use. Use any G, C or D chord you want. This is ear training. You likely can play several forms of the G chord at this point. It’s the same chord movement whether you use a 2 finger, 3 finger or 4 finger G.

P.S. what does “nr 20” mean?

Thanks a lot, Tomas, for your extensive and clear explanation. I really need to practice chords ear training a lot. I think that nr 20 stands for number 20.

What a great answer, Tomas, thanks a lot.
I’ll work on it.
Yes, nr stands for number.

Love it! Thank you! Fingerpicking is my favorite and I like learning a new 3/4 pattern.

Very sweet melody, Tomas, and if I don’t pay attention I fall asleep myself…. This is a good sign!

Wat a mess I created again with my comment. It was meant to appear onder lesson 4 Abigail’s Lullaby. And now it appears under number 5. How is it possible that lesson number 5 isn’t available yet but comments can wel be posted there?
With all your computerknowledge, Tomas, you are surely able to find a solution for that problem!
