A lot of the fun of playing guitar is learning to play songs you like. For a lot of guitar players this was the reason they picked up the guitar in the first place. I think that learning to play songs is one of the best ways to learn new techniques and develop your skills.
Something interesting about guitar players is that every guitar player plays songs differently. If you’ve ever seen a cover band live you’ll see that the guitar player takes some liberties. Actually, even the bands who wrote the riffs might play them differently live.
That’s what we’re capturing in this series. Some of these will be exactly what the guitarists play on the recordings. Some will be simplified to make them more accessible. And some of the licks and riffs are simply inspired by songs.
I would encourage you to learn all of these, even if you’ve never heard of the song. They all have something different that will make you a well rounded guitar player!
