Mute Strum

Hey there , new question…Is it necessary to hit the strings on the down stroke mute strum? I do so much better when I don’t but didn’t want to do it wrong. Thanks Steve

Time working on the mute (striking down with the pick and palming the strings at the same time) as a separate technique.

Then added back to the strum.
