Streets of Alhambra Complete
VIDEO
Welcome to Day 4 of the Spanish Guitar Challenge! Today, you’ll put it all together—rhythm, chords, and fingerpicking—into a full Spanish-style piece.
You’ll learn:
- The song’s form (strumming > fingerpicking > strumming)
- How to smoothly transition between sections
- Tips to stay relaxed and in time
- A fun bonus melody technique to spice up your fingerpicking (optional!)
You’ll review each section, practice tricky transitions, and finally play the full piece from start to finish. It’s not about perfection—it’s about making real music and building confidence.
Let’s dive in and make some music.

Have a look at the Monday lesson – Gypsy Grove.
It has a detailed breakdown of the strumming pattern.
Hi Tom:
Kudos! Greatly enjoyed the Streets of Alhambra. Only one question on the Polish & Play where you played the chords in rhumba style; couldn’t figure out from the video what the chord strumming was like. Any of your lessons covers that?
Thanks!
Tariq
I’m glad to hear you like this, Tariq. As Tony mentioned I did the strumming lesson on Monday. You’ll get more out of this series if you go through the lessons in order. My bet is you would really enjoy some of the subtle nuances I explained in the other lessons.
