Essential Guitar Playing Tips

• 1. Pay attention to your thumb

  • - Keep thumb behind the neck
  • - Should be able to apply pressure on strings easily with other fingers

• 2. Finger placement matters 

  • - Keep the finger as close to the fret as you can
  • - Keep left-hand nails short

• 3. Using the pick 

  • - Place pick on the first knuckle with your thumb over it
  • - Point pick inwards towards guitar
  • - Turn wrist to strum with a pick, and relax

• 4. Little at a time 

  • - Keep coming back without too much time lapsing for muscle memory benefits

• 5. Persistence pays off 

  • - Works best over a period of time
  • - Treat it as the "long game"
