Alternating Bass Strum Exercise [open chords]

Adding individual bass notes to your chord progressions adds a lot of excitement. It can “level up” your chord pattern in a lot of cases. Think about Folsom Prison Blues by Johnny Cash as a good example.

This exercise will run through the open chords with their alternating bass notes. This is not just a good exercise. It also shows you the common alternating bass notes for the open chords.
