Gentle Road Facing West

This is the day we’ve been building toward all week, where everything you’ve practiced comes together. Think about how far you’ve come! We started with the Scale Up, Scale Down exercise to lock in finger patterns, then tackled that catchy main lick with pull-offs. We explored playing melody notes over chord shapes and got comfortable with the strumming pattern that drives the song forward.

Today, we’re connecting all the pieces, like walking through a house you’ve been building room by room. Don’t worry if the transitions feel bumpy at first—every guitarist, even the pros, spends most of their practice time smoothing out those spots. Focus on playing slowly and accurately; speed will come naturally.

Once you’re comfortable, try playing along with the backing track. There’s something magical about hearing your part fit in with other instruments. No rush—take it at your own pace.

I enjoyed this lesson a lot. Brought on new skills. I think it would be interesting to learn similar skills apllied to different keys. Thank you Tom!

This was one of the more challenging songs that you’ve taught us. It definitely added to my guitar skills, though I’ll have to keep working on it till it becomes natural and easy for me. Thanks
