Some of my favorite scale based warm up exercises are pattern based exercises. It’s where you’re ascending and descending with a particular pattern. It’s more fun than just playing the scale sequentially. It’s also what I call a finger twister (kind of like a tongue twister). It takes a bit more mental power to play the exercise, so you’re building your coordination and new muscle memory.

Wow that was intense. Definitely need to practice this. But I am able to hear when I’m playing the correct note.

Hi Dora. I tend to like intense 🙂 Remember you can always decide if you want to spend more time on this exercise or just keep moving on. Any effort is not wasted. It’s a constant process of testing your limits.
