Island Wind – Chords
.
- EXPLANATION
- SLOW
- MEDIUM
- FAST
- DESCRIPTION
As we learned in the Simple Rake Strum lesson, a rake is a “slower” strum. You drag your pick through the strum. This will be a big part of the lesson today! This technique is used through a lot of musical styles. Combined with well placed 7th chords you get a beach and island vibe.
The chords we’ll use are C, G7 (open position), and F (partial bar). The G7 to the F can be a little tricky. If you’re having a hard time with it, focus on just that part until it’s a little more comfortable. Then work in the rest of the chord changes and the strum pattern.

That was a good lesson on the strum. I even learned a better mute strum!
