14 – Works In A Pinch-2 (FS)

- EXPLANATION

- DESCRIPTION
Pinching is what I would call a ‘bread and butter’ technique in fingerstyle guitar. It’s used in basically any and every fingerstyle song. The idea is to play two notes at the same time, pinching them with your thumb and another finger.
This exercise is a great introduction to fingerstyle playing. It’s a little challenging at first, but it’s actually easier than it sounds.

I liked resolving this sequence with a C chord strum at the end. I just wish I could keep an unbroken set of fingernails on my right hand… 🙁
Hi Jack. I have the same problem. When I can I go to the nail salon and have them fix my nails using acrylic powder. It looks natural and they were great. Of course, that means over time I have to go back and do it again.
I’ve also learned to do some things at home myself using crazy glue and material. I think they call it Silk Wrap. Doesn’t look so good when I do it but it’s effective.
