5 – Major Scale Formula
.
- DESCRIPTION
All scales can be broken down into simple formulas. Knowing these formulas helps you to understand music much deeper. When you understand scales you’re able to write and compose music, improvise, and even expand your ear training.
Most of Western music is built around the Major scale. Every scale is some variation of it. So learning this single scale gives you a solid foundation to learn all of them.
While music theory can get very complicated, scales don’t have to be. When you take away the terminologies and even the notes, they’re basically just simple patterns.

Tomas, I was pretty good on my understanding of how the major scale formula worked. But, it’s always great to have it explained again in another way. I love how you went down one string playing a scale.
This is a site I really like a lot for theory stuff if it’s of interest. It’s dangerous though because I can go there and just get addicted going through it. Like your site.
