I’m having trouble with trying to find a right hand anchor. I saw James Taylor finger pick and he rests his forearm on the guitar and can raise his wrist up. My hand is too short for that, and even resting behind the saddle I mute strings.
I am trying to use my little finger as an anchor just under the high E string. I find that it stabilises my hand and brings my fingers close to the strings. The down side is that it can feel a little cramped, especially playing theD,G and B strings. G,B and high E is not as cramped since they are closer to the anchor finger.
My guitar hero Tommy Emmanuel uses an anchor finger so I am giving it a go.

Sometimes I use an anchor finger but more often not. There’s not one way to do this. Experimenting over a period of time will help.
