There are only three ‘standard’ open minor chords on the guitar. We’ve learned the E minor and A minor chords, so let’s learn the last one: the D minor chord.
Yes, I mean the D minor sorry. The 3rd finger on the 2nd fret 2nd string to help me stabilize the 4th finger. I am really struggling reaching the traditional C, the F, the B minor and the D minor, in these 4th adventures. I can’t even apply the 80% rule and move on because I can’t reach these 4 chords at all. I spent last week on these and I was going to do it again this week but I don’t know what I am doing wrong all I get is thud sounds. I looked up hand stretches, looked at different people showing how to do it. I must be doing something wrong. I can’t move on to the Pescadores song until I can reach the chords, if I don’t get it now I will only be more behind if I ignore it and go on. Thanks for listening, I am a little discouraged with myself.
The 4th Adventure is a lot of new chords. Some of the chords like the F are very difficult for many people. If you can bring yourself to do it emotionally I would encourage you to go through the 3rd Adventure again. Practice every day for at least 10 to 20 minutes.
In college I took an ear training course and passed. I knew there was a lot more I could get from the course so I took it again. It was the best thing I ever did. I wanted to take it a 3rd time but the instructor politely said no. I’m taking up space from other students. I think repeat and review are under-rated in our society. https://realguitarsuccess.com/feeling-discouraged/
It must be a no to my question.
It occurred to me later to ask if you mean to write the D minor chord instead of the B minor Valerie?
What do you think about using the 3rd finger on the 2nd fret 2nd string to stabilize the pinky on the 3rd fret 2nd string for the B minor chord?
I don’t know Valerie. I can’t picture it. There is definitely more than one way to finger every chord. Does it sound right?

Stretching will help but nothing as a substitute for dogged perseverance.

I will go through the 3rd adventure again, then I will let you know when I am finished with it for more directions. Thanks for your time.
Another beautiful D minor chord in my pocket. Thanks.
What ever happened to the (5) five minutes practice sessions?
Hi Joseph, I hid them in preparation for a revise of the navigation I’m working on. Would you like a link to access them?
