Two common variations of the D Major chord are Dsus2 and Dsus4. They’re referred to as suspended chords. They’re very interesting chords and can be used in place of D Major in certain places.

The “2” and “4” come from the notes in the scale. They actually replace the 3rd of the chord. If that doesn’t make sense, don’t worry about it. We’ll go over the music theory part of chords in later lessons 🙂
