Most popular music is in 4/4 (four-four) time. If you’re tapping your foot along to a song you’ll tap your foot four times in a measure.

The rhythm part to Minuet In G is a great example of playing in 3/4 (three-four) time. That means there are only three beats per measure. This is less common than 4/4 time but it’s still pretty common.

I really loved this finger pickings exercise, Thomas. I play faster using different fingers than I am supposed to….I have a bit of arthritis in my hands & find it easier…..but am working on trying the proper fingering pattern, as I really want to learn this technique because it’s so beautiful.

I wouldn’t worry too much about the “correct” fingers. The reason this is a standard way to play this is that the fingers line up with the strings. Depending on the level of arthritis you may try a different approach. It may be best to keep doing the same way once you decide which is best.
